Softball Sweeps East Stroudsburg; Clinches Top Spot in PSAC East
GAME ONE BOX SCORE
GAME TWO BOX SCORE
BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University softball team swept a doubleheader from East Stroudsburg on Saturday by scores of 3-2 and 1-0. With the doubleheader sweep and a loss by Shippensburg to Millersville, the Huskies win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division title and will have a first round bye on Thursday during the PSAC playoffs.
In the opener, the Huskies scored all their runs in the second inning. With two outs and Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton) on first, Kelly Zarski (Paxinos/Danville) reached on an error by the shortstop. Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) then singled to load the bases. Krupiewski then scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch with Zarski and Sidisky each moving up a base. Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) then followed with a single scoring Zarski, while Sidisky later scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0.
East Stroudsburg got two of the runs back on solo home runs, including one in the seventh, but Bloomsburg pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) retired the Warriors without further damage to win her 15th game of the season.
In game two, Zarski walked with one out in the bottom of the first inning and eventually moved to third base. Then with two outs, she scored on a passed ball for the game's only run. Bloomsburg did have a threat in the bottom of the sixth, getting runners at second and third with two outs, but could not score.
East Stroudsburg managed just two hits off of Tara Reed and never had more than one runner on base in an inning as Reed won for the 14th time this season.
Bloomsburg improves to 35-13, 18-6 in the PSAC East. East Stroudsburg falls to 26-24, 10-14 in the PSAC East.
